Modern day medicine is awash with pills, painkillers
and placebos. However, we’d do well to remember
the methods of old. We put our guinea pig Maz Ogden
on the case
Colonic Hydrotherapy by Maz at G3 Magazine (April
2009)
What: The colonic treatment aids the
evacuation of waste both during
and after treatment. A brief rectal exam is carried
out and then a speculum
is introduced to open the sphincter. Inlet and outlet
tubes are attached to
the outside of the speculum, water is pumped into one
tube and waste
comes out of the other tube. About 60 litres of filtered
water are used per
treatment.
How it felt (Maz): It felt strangely
comfortable, well, as much as having
a tube up your bum can feel, anyway! I did feel a bit
strange, like I wanted to
let out wind or poo, but then I was reminded by the
therapist that
that’s what I was there to do! It was all done
very professionally and
discretely.
After: I felt really light and pure.
You are meant to lose a few pounds, as
colonics clean out a lot of the debris that has been
festering, and your body
functions better. For a week after the treatment I was
advised to detox,
avoiding caffeine, processed food and refined sugars.
I didn’t even want
them as I didn’t want to lose the pure feeling!
