| What
is meditation? |
|
| Meditation
must be tried to be understood, because ultimately it
is your individual experience that counts. However, here
are some attempts at answers: |
|
- Meditation is like sleep in that we enter a deeply
relaxed state, and awaken afterwards refreshed. It
is unlike sleep in that we stay awake and aware throughout.
- Meditation is a means of counteracting the stress
created by today's lifestyle. It has been proved to
be an effective way to combat illness and maintain
health.
- Meditation is a spiritual experience, bringing
us in touch with our inner being, (what Jesus called
the kingdom of heaven that is within.) This contact
gives us inner well-being, makes us more balanced,
and improves our relationships.
- Meditation is the best therapy. Going inside we
explore the contents of our minds and enter our unconscious,
uncovering compulsive patterns and freeing ourselves
from them. It is natural psychotherapy in which you
are your own therapist.
- Meditation is essentially something you do with
yourself and for yourself. Therefore, although it
is integral to eastern religions, becoming a meditator
does not mean you join a cult or adopt a spiritual
master.

| Osho
meditation is different in that: |

- It uses the technique of catharsis(psychic cleansing)
to lead to a deeper state of relaxation and a stronger
connection to the inner being.
- It is especially designed for Westerners who have
much tension and restlessness to get rid of before
they can be silent and still.
- In the cathartic phases music, dancing, humming,
deep breathing, shaking, laughing etc are used to
get rid of physical and emotional tensions as a preparation
for silent sitting. These are fun to do and are physically
and mentally liberating.
- The freeing up of our being breaks our robot patterns,
and we become more flowing, spontaneous and alive
in our everyday life. The physical and mental benefits
are felt immediately afterwards and can last for several
days.

Give
yourself a holiday from your normal way of being, and
from your nagging and worrying mind! An hour of doing
Kundalini or Dynamic Meditation is like a refreshing break
from your normal self. You enter a space where you can
let your hair down, be absolutely free, find inner peace
and re-emerge refreshed into your everyday world.
After practising Osho meditation for twenty-five years
I believe it is the most important thing I have learned
in my life. At the age of 63 I enjoy excellent health
both physically and mentally, I am supple and look much
younger than my years. My partner, Vivek says "Osho
