Strengthen the core of your body and reap
the healing benefits of Pilates at RevitaliseOriginally
developed in the 1920s by physical trainer Joseph Pilates,
Pilates is an exercise system focused on improving flexibility
and strength for the whole body, without building bulk.
This leads to an
increase in muscular tone throughout your entire body.
Pilates focuses on stabilising and strengthening the
core of the body
(the lower back and abdomen), and these core muscles
support the body
during all exercises. This principle makes Pilates extremely
functional
and you will discover stomach muscles you never new
you had!
Breathing, correct posture and body alignment are all
important in
Pilates where the focus is on fewer repetitions and
more precise
movements using correct control and form.
The Pilates method of mind body conditioning promotes
physical
harmony and balance for all ages and physical conditions
while providing an energising workout. Recommended by
therapists and the medical profession, the Pilates method
can be integrated into rehabilitation
and fitness programs both during or post injury.
Pilates is best learned as a small group, progressive
course where the
teacher is hands-on to ensure you are performing each
exercise correctly.
Revitalise offers over 20 daytime and evening small
group courses a week.
You begin with a six-week introductory class and can
progres onto level 1,
level 2 and level 3 courses at your own pace. They also
run pregnancy
pilates courses. To get you started, book a six-week
