Reflexology |
|
The
ancient healing art of Reflexology has been known to man
for thousands of years.
Evidence has been found that it was practised by the early
Indians, Chinese and Egyptians.
In 1913 reflexology was re-introduced to the West by Dr
W Fitzgerald, an American Surgeon. He was able to demonstrate
that reflex areas on the feet and hands are linked to
other parts of the body. Reflexology was introduced into
the UK in the 1960’s and today is very popular.
Reflexology is a holistic treatment that treats the whole
person, not the symptoms of the illness or disease. The
therapy can bring relief to a wide range of conditions,
including stress, anxiety, asthma, irritable bowel syndrome,
sciatica, depression, back pain and is safe a suitable
for all ages.Reflexology improves circulation and aids
the elimination of the body’s cellular waste and
encourages the body to heal itself at its own pace. When
the reflexologist applies a pattern of sequence of pressure,
the body begins to relax because its stress pattern is
temporarily interrupted or diverted. Muscles held in a
state of tension as a protective device begin to relax.
Digestive juices begin to flow more easily, breathing
becomes deeper and the circulation of blood and lymph
improves.
Reflexology is said to ‘normalise’ bodily
functions, inducing a state of homeostasis.
If you have any doubts about whether Reflexology will
help your particular problem, please consult with your
doctor. |
